Why did I leave Old Funeral?

In 1989, I joined Old Funeral, but I left Old Funeral in 1991. Why? Let's find out. I joined Old Funeral in 1989 because I thought their music was really cool,[1] and because I had nothing better to do, really. And then the problem was[2] that they had just started to play death metal when I joined. So we played death metal the time when I was in the band.[3] And I wasn't overly fond of the death metal style, and I did like some death metal bands, but overall, it was a bit boring. And after a while, all the bands started to sound the same. All the bands tried to start to sound the same. Some band even traveled long distances to record their albums[4] in the same studios as other bands did, because they wanted the same sound and so forth. And I found it really boring. Before we continue, I can add that I like, you know, the Deicide debut album, I liked Morbid Angels "Altars of Madness", I liked the Paradise Lost Demo tape that they released before they actually released an album. And I liked a few other bands as well, from what I can remember. But, you know, I wasn't overly fond of this type of music. Another thing is that Old Funeral played live, and I wasn't very fond of that either. I didn't crave that type of attention, standing in front of an audience and so forth. A lot of the riffs that I made for Old Funeral didn't really fit into that style of music, and therefore, Old Funeral didn't want to use them. And of course, in the end I made riffs that I liked and I wanted to play that type of music. I wasn't really interested in death metal, and therefore I figured in the end that, you know, you have a whole lot of riffs on your own, why don't you just make your own music? Also, I didn't have all that much in common with the guys from Old Funeral.[5] They were classic, typical metalheads. I was not. And we kind of had different interests. So I took the riffs that I had made and I made my own tracks. And as you know this became what, you know as Burzum. And the plan for Burzum was to remain completely anonymous. I didn't want any type of attention from anybody. Wanted to walk around in the streets and nobody would know who I was or what I did or anything. And therefore, corpse paint and a pseudonym. But, as you know, that failed miserably. But that was the original idea. And... yeah.
- I.e., their demo tape was really cool.
- The EP that i play on, though... is not good.
- So technically, Old Funeral was cool until I joined.
- ... "black metal" bands later on did the same. Sigh.
- They called my RPGs "Varg's power games"... haha!
