Are you a poser?

Are you a poser? Well let's find out. In my video about Lords of Chaos, I think I called D.U.(?) and some other bands poser bands, right? Well the thing is we never used the term "poser bands" or "posers" really in the black metal scene. We used the term "true", never used the term "poser". And when I made the Lords of Chaos video I used the term because that's the term the filmmaker is using. You know in that made up scene where they pretend that I had a scorpions badge or something[1] and the others thought of that as a poser band? My point in that video just to point out that the bands that the other guys listen to would have been defined as poser bands too, using the filmmakers logic and his term. The term true is of course also ridiculous. And I explain in my book in detail[2] why this term was problematic and why it was used. And I'm not going to spend 10 minutes talking about that here. But in short, true was a term used in the black metal scene for bands that were accepted. And of course Burzum was on DSP eronomous label. So of course from the very get go he used the term true for Burzum. So this whole thing in the film is just completely made up. But let us return to the poser topic. As I explain in my book, the term true is ridiculous. And I only use it today ironically. And the term poser is equally ridiculous because everyone pose for pictures. Ergo there are sometimes posers. And I'm making this video not even because of Lords of Chaos, but because I see a lot of people talk about it in the comments on my videos. I think the only people who care about whether or not being a poser[3] are the posers. Nobody else cares. I mean, if you want to dress this way or that way, if you want to take photos like this or that, if you want to wear makeup, If you want to have a big green bucket on your head like some complete idiots on TikTok do sometimes. Who cares? Do whatever you want. So the bottom line is if you want to play this or that music, do it. Never mind if it's poser music or not. If you want to dress like this, you want to have this opinion or that opinion. If you want to look like this, if you want to look exactly like someone else, and so forth, who cares? Do whatever you want. Likewise, listen to whatever kind of music you like to listen to, be it, you know,[4] this metal or that metal or not metal at all, or electronic or folk or classical or pop music.[5] Who cares? Enjoy what you enjoy and don't care what others think about it. Thank you for watching.
