These videos are made to enable MYFAROG players to more easily understand the system, and also to let those interested find out what this game is all about. I will make several more, and then, when I am done, I will go back to making other types of videos. If you have anything you wish clarified in MYFAROG, just let me know, and perhaps I will make, or already have made, a video explaining this for you.

Only sorcerers and deities can cast spells in MYFAROG, unless of course you are using an enchanted item, in which case you should watch my Runelaw(?) video instead to find out how you do that. A sorcerer can learn a new spell every time he levels up, but he has to do this instead of discovering a new talent or gaining training a new skill. He cannot learn more than his intelligence modifier multiplied by three spells. That's the maximum number of spells he can know at any one time. He cannot cast a spell with a power level higher than his intelligence modifier multiplied by two, or rather the lowest of his intelligence modifier multiplied by two and his experience level divided by two, rounded up. So if my character is a first level sorcerer, he can cast a level one spell, and he will start out knowing one spell as well. When a sorcerer casts spells, he will spend stamina points, because it's exhausting, and he cannot cast the same spell more than his will power modifier multiplied by two every day, and he has to wait until the next sunrise before he can cast the same spell again. The stamina modifier, you can leave that out completely if you don't want to use it, if you want to simplify things, but if you use it, the stamina modifier will make the character tired which can be a problem in certain situations, such as in combat.[1] So in this example, my first level sorcerer only knows the spell Heal. In order to cast this spell, he has to spend one stamina point and also cast the dice to find out whether or not he fumbles. If he doesn't fumble, he successfully casts this spell. Other spells will be cast against a target number, but the Heal spell is not. He can cast it, if he succeeds, he can add his proficiency with the Heal spell to his healing proficiency, when he performs healing on an uninjured character.[2]
  1. Using the stamine rules as written will make casting especially high level spells very exhausting, which becomes an important factors in dangerous situations.
  2. So sorcerous healing has to be done in combination with traditional healing (using herbs, ointments, bandages etc.). There is no 'instant healing' in MYFAROG. You need to spend 3D6 rounds to perform healing on a character, and one round extra if you cast the Heal spell as well.
