Broken Promises
So this is my Anhänger,[1]and I had a flat tyre, so I'm changing it.[2]It's from [ger. 1938, 8 and 13], and it is made in Deutschland, Das Reich.[3]It's, in other words, pretty old, 80 years old, and it works like a charm.[4]But not everything works as a charm. And am I tired of things that don't work? Let's find out.

When I was young, we had these future visions of a Europe (?) with flying cars and jetpacks and all sorts of computers.[5]And we thought that, wow, that would be great, wouldn't it? And today we don't really have jetpacks or flying cars, but we have a lot of other high-tech stuff. And there is one problem with all of this. It doesn't really work. Yeah, it doesn't really work. It doesn't work as it is supposed to work, it doesn't work for very long, it doesn't work at all, and it doesn't work as it should have. I'm pretty sure we can put almost every single high-tech item into that box, to put it that way.[6]Even the internet doesn't always work. You try to order online, which is great, isn't it? You can just go online and order whatever you want when it works. The internet itself doesn't always work, and the websites, they don't always work. Cars, fine, they work for some time, but then they break down. It's like that with everything. It works for some time, ideally, and then it stops working. And I'm tired of it.[7]

If you want self-sufficiency, my advice to you is don't buy high-tech stuff. Don't buy complicated stuff, because it's not going to work. It's going to break. But if you have the most simple tools available, they are not going to break that often, that easily, or even at all. I have a GPS, but I haven't used it for several years. I'm using maps instead. My maps, they're not going to break.

So today I'm just going to give you that little advice, really. Keep it simple. Keep it safe. A simpler life is a more healthy life. And it gives you more freedom.

Thanks for watching.
