Burzum. Why did I pick that name for my project? Let's find out. Ash nazg durbatulûk, ash nazg gimbatul ash nazg thrakatulûk, agh burzum-ishi krimpatul. One ring to rule them all, one ring to find them, one ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them. I will list several reasons for why Burzum was chosen by me back in 1991. No.1. Anti-americanization sentiments. I didn't want a "cool" English name or rather a name that sounded cool in English because I was against the Americanization of the world. At the same time it sounded just fine in other languages. Secondly it was an attempt to be original in a scene where everyone had cool sounding names so I wanted something different. And it was a word from the Tolkien's Lord of the rings book. This is the poem that was written on the inside of the One Ring. And I like fantasy I liked Merp and I liked Lord of the rings. Finally I lived in a world, just like we still do, where the tallest towers are the deepest wells, and where the deepest wells are the tallest towers, where light is black and black is light. So if you call this "light" then I prefer the darkness. If turning people into dysgenic cowards is a good thing then I don't want to be on your team. And as you know from the "Hvis Lyset Tar Oss" album, this concept stuck to Burzum. Their light is darkness. What they call darkness is my light. And as you know, Aus der Dunkelheit war das Licht geboren [ger. From the darkness, the light was born].[1]
  1. She knows why I picked that name.
