Tomhet (with Lyrics)

Description | A small piece of Burzum history. I don't claim these lyrics are any good, or that they matter, but to those interested: Here they are.... (English translation, from the original Norwegian text): «I sat awake one night in the darkness, gazing at the dreary town. Many lonely lights called for thoughts to descend into my mind. Perhaps another spirit is over there, in the light; a spirit has lit a light in the dark night in order to be seen. So that others can come and give comfort and warmth. But nobody comes, for during the night the others sleep. They sleep in order to cope with the next day at work. The lonely lights keep shining. When day again rides across the firmament Those who slept during the night shine during the day as well. The lonely lights are seen, but they don't stand out from the others. When night rides across the wind weaver again dakness descends again. I see the lonely lights again, shining in the darkness, but the others sleep and cannot see or help them. The lights always shining go out before the others, because they have always shined and never slept. I sat there in darkness and gazed at the town. Maybe others did the same? Maybe others sat and looked at the lights that they didn't have themselves? Nobody ever saw them. Day came in his old wagen and we wandered out into the light again. But where there is light there is always shadow. We all have our own shaddow. The unlit lights are being illuminated by the eye in the sky, and were not seen as shadows by anybody. When the light shines you can never be a shadow amongst people, because even if yo have a shadow, everybody else does too. These lights never go out, because they were never lit – to light up, warm and burn down.» Remember that they are from 1992. I was 19 years old at the time.
