If you look at the history of a man, you could tell that only civilized men owned slaves. And if you take Europe as an example, the Romans had a lot of slaves. They had so many slaves that they became a problem. The Greeks had slaves too, a lot of them. But the barbarian peoples of Europe didn't have that many slaves. And those who did have slaves, they too were a little bit civilized actually. They had villages, they had agriculture. They were, you know, not that barbarian after all. However, the really barbarian barbarians, they didn't have slaves. How come? Let's find out.[1] The reason why the civilized, or part civilized Europeans had slaves, was because a type of slavery is a prerequisite for civilization. If you don't have slaves, it's impossible to uphold a civilized society. And you might argue that I must be wrong, because today we have civilized societies and there are no slaves. And well, I would disagree a little bit there, because they don't call them slaves today. But, oh yeah, we have slaves today as well. They call them workers, they call them employees, and they are slaves.[2] The slaves of Europe in the past, they could not decide where they wanted to live, they could not decide where they wanted to work, and their owners could sell them if they wanted to. Today, it's pretty much exactly the same for those who work, those who are employed somewhere. They cannot live wherever they want to, they have to live where they can get a job. They cannot work with whatever they want to, they have to take the job they can get.[3] And in relation to their masters, their employers, they have to come crawling to them and beg them in order to let them slave for them. And it's the same thing. This is slavery.[4] Many of us think that civilization is a good thing, and they argue somehow in favor of[5] upholding civilization. I would just wish to tell them that if you want civilization, you cannot be without slavery. If you want everyone to be free, to own themselves, so to speak, then you have to be against all types, all forms of civilization, because civilization is impossible without some sort of slavery. Barbarism is the natural state of mankind. Civilization is unnatural. It is a whim of circumstance. And barbarism must always ultimately triumph. Robert E. Howard

  2. The man who produces while others dispose of his product is a slave. Ayn Rand.
  3. Today that might be a problem in itself, because there are almost no jobs.
  4. The modern slavery worked like a charm for a long time. It gave great results for the slave masters, and always left the slave in need of more!
  5. Civilisation brought us: War, Famine, Tyranny, Malnutrition, Overpopulation, Pollution, Environmental disaster, Multiculturalism, Consumerism, etc. And it gave us Slavery.
