[1] Okay, this is the interior of the car. I'm speaking softly because I have a kid sleeping. We have a light, the fuel tanks and a switch between left and right.[2] We have an accelerator, you can pull and push to adjust the speed of the car if you don't want to use the pedal. Of course ignition and that would be a choke(?) to start the car when it's cold. Temperature, oil and battery which I find very useful. And then we have the speedometer. As you see it's not a very fast car and absolute top speed for this car is around 100 which in effect is just under 100 in real speed.[3] Relatively comfortable cruising speed is 80 which in effect is 70. And when you go very far you should drive around 60 here which is about 55 in real speed.[4] And this is of course kilometers per hour not miles. I have, mine is not really original. I have Mercedes Vito seats in front and this thing for example is not original. It's just welded onto the steering wheel here. It's very simple robust design. This is the heater for the car. I just have it like this, you can adjust the amount of heat by opening and closing here.[5] But it makes a squeaking sound here when it's open so I just take it in a rubber band. Here I have put some insulation to attempt to reduce cabin noise. I think you can see some underneath there as well.[6] Here this is to decrease the cabin noise. The interior of the car is, I put some carpets to cover the insulation I put in the roof. This was done to protect against heat. Here we have my wife purchased some cardboard box to wrap some package and she just put it there. And then I put a carpet on top to avoid having all the reflection of light. As you can see it's a rim with a soft top. And here we have my doctor playing a computer game.[7] As you can see here you can't open the windows but you can unscrew them with three bolts. Take the whole window off and you can also unscrew here and put down the front screen, the windshield. And then you have a car with a very low profile. Here we have the windscreen wiper engine. It's a seven seater. I put some pillows there to decrease the amount of head damage to children when we crash. If we crash that is. Because behind that is just iron bars. So it's not a very safe car. I put in seatbelts myself. All seats. But originally there are no seatbelts whatsoever. I have some tools in the doors on each side. And I usually bring this, a power pack. Never needed it for this car. I've needed it for other cars I've been driving but not for this. And a saw of course. This is very annoying when you drive a wooden path or a track or a small road. And there's a tree log lying across. So then it's nice to have a saw. And of course a small shovel as well. If you see for example here you can, there are multiple holes that just you can put your finger through. And it's a soft torque (?). So it's not a warm car. When you park it it becomes very cold immediately.[8] And the heater is not very good either. So even when you drive you really have to put some clothes on if it's cold. Here we have all the gear sticks. And of course the handbrake. The gear stick. The reduction gears or the cover (?) gears if you like. And if you want to have a four wheel drive you use this.[9] It's not automatic gear. Which of course means that it's rather safe to park this car unlocked in America. Because they don't know how to drive with the stick most of them. Sissies.[10][11]
  1. Some casual talk about my UAZ (Part I)
  2. Yes, it has two fuel tanks, each with 40L
  3. At 100 km/h it shakes a lot.
  4. To avoid ruining your hearing.
  5. My wife is REALLY sensitive to noises. I had to sound proof the whole car in order to make her ride it al all. Sigh.
  6. All of that was almost pointless, but to insulate the hood of the car really made a difference.
  7. My UAZ is from 1988. It was formerly owned by the army of East Germany.
  8. Yes. It's like a tin can.
  9. It normally has rear wheel drive.
  10. To those who don't know: My UAZ looks pretty much like this.
  11. To be continued.
