I see some claims every now and then that Neanderthals they ate almost only meat. Yeah. And of course some scholars claim this because they have found some Neanderthals and the evidence is clear. The stomach contents, it's all meat.[1] But did they eat only meat? Let's find out. I'm gonna be real quick here and once again prove that scholars are idiots. You see if it's winter, then you hunt and you eat meat because not a lot of things grow here during the winter some things do but at least 80% of your diet is going to be meat based. If you're a scholar and you find with the remains of a Neanderthal that died during winter his stomach content will be at least or around 80% meat based.[2] However, that doesn't mean that Neanderthals ate only meat. I have some clever viewers don't I you already know what I'm gonna say. I'm still gonna say it though. You see, if you're a Neanderthal and you die during summer your stomach contents is going to be made up of all the food stuff that you have access to during the summer.[3] Fruits, berries, nuts, possibly mushrooms as well.[4] Your diet will be largely plant based. Now if a scholar finds your remains he's gonna tell the world Neanderthals they ate almost only plants. They were pretty much vegans, dude. And of course all the vegans are gonna link to your study to prove that their diet is the best. But we all know it's the worst. I'm gonna conclude here and now ladies and gentlemen the Neanderthals ate mostly meat during the winter. The Neanderthals also ate mostly plant-based food during the summer. Ergo, they had a very varied diet. They ate everything that we have access to here in Europe like we should.[5][6][7][8][9]
  1. CORRECTION: Actually they didn't study the stomach at all, but the TEETH and the remains found there.
  2. And the remains found in your TEETH.
  3. And the remains found in your TEETH.
  4. At least if you die during Autumn.
  5. We started to boil/heat treat meat to be able to eat old meat, but mainly to be able to eat parts of the animal that we cannot digest raw - or that we cannot even chew.
  6. Eating most meat RAW is actually better for us.
  7. Veganism and Vegetarianism are harmful for us.
  8. But eating ONLY meat is of course also harmful for us.
  9. We are omnivores.
