About Civilization & Multiculturalism
As you might know, slavery is a pre-requisite for civilization. You can't have a civilization working without slaves. Therefore ALL civilizations have had slaves. Including our own.
People don't normally enslave their own though, so they get their slaves from other cultures. And thus Europe over the last few thousand years became multicultural, with and because of civilization and its need for slaves. And because Owners often have relationships with their Slaves...
So yes: This is not something new. We have had this influx since the birth of civilization. I end this with an image of the barbarian European man.
