We just had Yule, and of course I received some presents, and I received this from my wife, a Trossingen lyre, made in Germany, by a guy who has a YouTube channel here, called Kveld, that means Nacht, I'll put up a link in the video description below. He makes these things and sells them on Etsy, I think. It's a five string lyre, Germanic. I'm a guitarist, so it's not very strange for me, but it's still a bit different. You can play it like this, you hold your hand and you mute the different strings, and you play like this. You can use a pick, or you can use your fingers.
I tuned it like this,[1]and I'll give a shot at playing a tune. Semi-improvised, with the (ultra-original) title "Hail Óðinn, Sire".
This was mainly a test, to see if I can actually play the lyre using this setup, that would be that camera with that microphone. Let me know if you think the sound was OK, or if you think it sucked. Press like if you liked this video, press dislike if you didn't. Thanks for watching.
