Ragnarök NOW!
Ragnarök is upon us. What does that mean? Let's find out.
First of all, I wish all my subscribers a happy new year. And I hope the gods will be strong in you this year.
You've all heard Ragnarök translated as Twilight of the Gods.[1]But in reality it also means the birth, the renewal, the end and the return, basically, of the gods.[2]Because Ragnarök is not Armageddon or anything like that. It's a yearly event. And on our modern calendar it falls upon the last day of the year today. This is Ragnarök. And we mark it as the beginning of the new year today, in our day and age. And it's just the renewal of the powers in this world. They die and they come back again. It's an annual event and it's not the end of the world. It's the beginning of a new year. The beginning of a new cycle. Because everything revolves in cycles. There's no beginning and no end. It all revolves in cycles. And today in our modern day and age we celebrate Ragnarök by sending rockets into the sky and making a lot of noise. And in the past they did something somewhat similar. They ran through the forest with torches and made the sparks fly and they sent burning wheels down hillsides. It was sort of like a symbolic battle between the summer and the winter. As described in detail in this book. Yeah I haven't written about that in a "normal" book yet.
I can actually add that Rangnarok is also not just the birth of the gods in our world. It's also the birth of the gods in us. And of course it's linked to... you guessed it.[3]I know, so many heavy-metalled pagans will dislike that. So I thought it was worth mentioning. Trúa á mátt sinn auk megin.[4]That's the real paganism. And the gods are not like the gods of the desert. Thank you for watching. Bye bye.
